it gets dull

What do you think of standardization of the city? I think it is flat. My homecity is one of the government‐ordinance‐designated city with rich nature and history. We are proud of and cherishing our symbol architecture: a castle which was built in the very beginning of 17th century, however, the city becomes tedious year by year. Once (at least 30 years ago?) traditional unchanged private shops lined the streets, some still there but most disappeared. There are shops which you can see everywhere in Japan instead. Time has changed, I didn't support private shops as I use the Internet for shopping. I know I don't deserve to insist the city gets boring.
