Postcrossing October Writing Prompt: Your local post office

Happy WPD🎉🎊

worldpostcardday.com

The post office I use most often is probably the one in the downtown area, where I tend to stop by more often than the one closest to home. I don't get there as often now.

In the past, the post office didn't have stationery (not even a single envelope), and people who didn't know that and just brought in what they wanted to send had to turn back. The post office was basically a place to bring in things that had already been packed. However, if I remember correctly, Gotochi-cards which seem very popular on Postcrossing existed already 10 years ago.

After the privatisation of the postal service by the Japanese government in the late 1990s and 2000s, they may have started to deal with stationery little by little. I always check them out when I go to the post office, because they are cute (like stationery in the shape of a post box) and relatively low-priced😊
